When thinking about your first home you have several things to consider. You need to be sure that you will be comfortable with your monthly payments. You also need to consider how much money you want to use as a down payment. Good lenders will have lots of different options for you to choose from.
Programs for first-time buyers. Make sure to ask about these types of programs, But always compare them to standard financing to be sure how much you are really saving.
Your lender. A lender you can trust will ensure that you are aware of your best options. Your choice of a lender is very important, make sure ALL of your questions get answered. Financing problems are a leading cause of late closing sales. A local lender can give a much quicker response to problems than someone in another time zone.
Private contracts. Some sellers are willing to carry the contract themselves, when interest rates are high this can be a great alternative. Make sure to compare these types of deals to what your lender or local bank can offer.
